About this spa
Tucked into a forested river gorge near Nakusp, this is the kind of soak that feels earned before it feels restorative. Guests come for the raw, natural setting: cedar trees, cliffs, steam rising in cool air, and a chain of rock-lined pools that shift from hot to warm to cooler water, with the Halfway River offering an invigorating cold plunge just steps away. The rough road and steep descent are part of the story here, but travelers consistently describe the effort as worthwhile, especially when the reward is a quiet, mineral-rich soak surrounded by mountain scenery. Despite its backcountry feel, the site is thoughtfully maintained, with change rooms, outhouses, trails, and a campsite that make the experience surprisingly comfortable. The mood can be social at busy times, yet there are enough hidden corners and smaller pools to preserve a sense of privacy for couples, solo wellness seekers, and anyone drawn to contrast therapy in a truly natural environment. With a Wellness Score of 92, Halfway Hot Springs delivers a memorable balance of wilderness, thermal circuit soaking, and simple comforts, all in a setting that feels both therapeutic and deeply unpolished. It’s best suited to a capacity of 10 guests.
“Such a neat experience! Be prepared for a hike down to the actual pools - you need some amount of fitness and confidence on uneven ground. There are railings installed, and we noticed some folks using hiking poles. This is not overkill! :) Great place to change near the pools - it's amazing the work that is put into this in the middle of no where. Great assortment of temperatures. If you head away from the 'main' pools a bit, you're treated with the actual hot springs coming out the side of the mountain. Neato.”

GoogleCan't really rate it because we couldn't get into them. Attempted to vist during winter, the road is open but not ideal for anything other than a 4wd.
